Ad compares Donald Trump to dictators and authoritarians; will run nationally on CNN and MSNBC, and on Christmas programming in swing states

WASHINGTON – December 22, 2023 – Today Republican Accountability PAC announced a new six-figure ad campaign highlighting Donald Trump’s dictatorial plans if he returns to the White House. The ad urges voters to “wake up” to the threat he poses to our democracy.

The 60-second ad, which you can watch here, compares Trump to dictators throughout history who systematically dismantled their countries’ democracies. The ad states, “Trump said he would terminate the Constitution so he could be president again. Do you know who also did that? Mussolini, Chavez, Pinochet.”

The ad will run nationally on CNN and MSNBC and in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin on the Hallmark Channel and during TBS’s A Christmas Story marathon. This campaign will start on Friday, December 22, and will run through next week.

The campaign comes at a pivotal moment for our democracy, as Trump is poised to be the nominee for the Republican Party. The ad ends by saying, “It’s time to get off the sidelines. We can’t let Donald Trump get close to the Oval Office again.”

“Among Republicans and Democrats alike, not enough people have internalized that Trump is cruising to a third nomination,” said Gunner Ramer, political director for the Republican Accountability PAC. “He’s become even more conspiratorial, more dictatorial, more authoritarian—and he has a real chance of being the next president of the United States. It’s time to start confronting the problem head-on.”
